Alma Fay (VanderMierden) Bowers-Jansen

Alma Fay Bowers-Jansen, 70, of Leopold, went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born on June 26, 1953, in Marble Hill, daughter of Martin and Mattie VanderMierden.

Alma married Paul Ray Bowers on September 2, 1972, in Glennon, MO. He preceded her in death April 13, 2007. She later married Thomas Jansen on September 28, 2013, in Glennon, MO.

She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and active in St. Ann Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and riding the side-by-side with her beloved Thomas. Other activities included tending to her flowers and canning.

Survivors include her husband: Thomas Jansen; children: Rose Ann Rhodes (Quincy), Christy Sue Easley (John), John Paul Bowers (Hannah), Linda Bowers; grandchildren: Cierra Rhodes, Quianna Rhodes, Zachary Rhodes, Jacob Easley, Cadence Easley, Kyle Bryant, Leona Bryant, and Jazzlyn Davis; six great grandchildren; five sisters: Evelyn Davenport (Lloyd Jr.), Mary Lou Talley (Kenny), Alice Collier (Rex), Betty Little, Judy Ford (David); five brothers: Bob VanderMierden (Cindy), Bill VanderMierden (Peggy), Leo VanderMierden (Mary Ellen), Henry VanderMierden, Elmer VanderMierden (Renee).

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother: Leon VanderMierden.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Parish Prayers and Rosary service will begin at 7:00 PM, during the visitation. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold, MO. Burial will follow at the Goshen Cemetery in Oak Ridge.
