Alvis Eugene Lee, 95, of Marble Hill, passed away on August 21, 2024, at the Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born on September 7, 1928, to the late George and Beulah (Davis) Lee, in Lutesville. He attended Lutesville High School.
Alvis enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1951 and remained in the service until his honorable discharge in November of 1952. He received an Army Occupation Medal and a National Defense Medal during his time of service.
He loved to fish and hunt during his younger years. He enjoyed playing guitar and loved to sing. Mr. Lee was called to minister in the 1960’s and dedicated his life to serving the Lord. He held tent revivals, hosted numerous gospel radio stations and founded the Mid-Western Evangelistic Center in 1968. Alvis was very proud that the center always carried the same name. He spent 20 years volunteering to transport fellow veterans to doctors’ appointments, hospitals and wherever they needed to go. Alvis was a very kind, caring and considerate person to everyone and always willing to help someone in need.
He is survived by his sons: Robert “Bob” (Mary Beth) Lee, Joe Lee; daughter: Donna (Wayne) Davis; brother: Otis (Orla) Lee; eight grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Jim and Paul Lee; and ten siblings.
Services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Visitation will be held form 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Baker Cemetery, with military honors.
