Bobby "Bob" Joe Nanney

Bobby Joe Nanney, 86, of Marble Hill, MO, passed away on November 11, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 7, 1937, to the late Will and Alice (Nations) Nanney, in Marble Hill, MO.

Bob worked a number of jobs over his lifetime. He worked in the log woods for Lindell Liley, the Lutesville Pallet Factory and hung siding. After leaving Lutesville Pallet, he went to work for Lincoln-McBride hanging siding in 1975, and remained working for them until 1994, when Bob went to work for himself. He liked to piddle around the house working on various projects. He enjoyed gardening and yardwork. Bob enjoyed a good cup of coffee and went to the local coffee shops and talk with friends. He was not a dog person, until he stumbled upon Rosie. Bob and Rosie, the dog became inseparable and it was known that Rosie was “his dog.”

He enjoyed watching his chickens scratching in the yard and caring for their chicks, new calves frolicking in the field and watching the song birds and hummers. Bob enjoyed the “perfect” piece of fish, and froglegs.

Bob and Ruby Wiseman were united in marriage on March 23, 1957, in Hernando, Mississippi. This union of marriage brought them many years of love, happiness and three children, Rick, Nick and Connie. He was a frugal man by nature, but generous to his children. The older Bob became, the more precious his family was to him. Bob was a devoted father and husband, and over the past year really learned to enjoy the simple things in life.

Bob will be truly missed by his wife of 66 years, Ruby; two sons: Rick (Rosie) Nanney of Marble Hill, MO, Nick (Cortney) Nanney of Hot Springs, AR; one daughter: Connie (Paul) Benfield of Marble Hill, MO; one sister: Louise Smith of Imperial, MO; eight grandchildren: Eric, Eran, Amanda, Sarah, Kristin, Stella, Oliver and Bobbi Jo; seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers: Alfred, Cecil, John, Lee, Vester, Lester, Melvin; five sisters: Nancy, Stella, Ethel, Thelma and Velma.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Missouri. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Bro. Donnie Cook officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Scopus, MO.
