Carole Lee Gusler, 78, of Marble Hill, Mo., died on November 10, 2021, at St Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, on December 25, 1942, she was the daughter of George F. and Adelaid E. Willenport Gusler.
Carole was known for her kindness to animals. She raised various pets and sheltered any homeless animal which came to her.
She was a graduate of the Southeast Missouri State University associate nursing degree program. She was a traveling nurse and spent several years working for the California corrections system.
She is survived by three children: David Holmes, Shawn Holmes, and Nancy Holmes, a brother, George Gusler; a sister, Nancy Steinfurth and a number of grandchildren.
Funeral services were private. Hutchings Funeral Chapel assisted the family.
