Charles August Eftink, 86, of Glennon, passed away peacefully at his home on May 22, 2026. He was born on January 26, 1940, in Drum, Missouri, to the late Joseph and Anna (Trankle) Eftink. Charles was a 1958 graduate of Cape Girardeau Catholic High School. After high school, he joined the Army National Guard and remained in the guard until 1964.
On April 28, 1962, Charles Eftink and Ina Horman were united in marriage in Chaffee, Missouri. Charles and Ina met at the shoe factory in Chaffee and enjoyed spending time together at the skating rink. Charles and Ina celebrated 64 years of marriage together and raised two children, Anthony and Karen.
Charles was a master carpenter by trade. He worked for Ben Sitzes Construction, Leroy Reinagel Construction and Kenny Seabaugh Construction throughout his career. After work he would come home and work the family farm. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years and playing ping-pong in his later years, he also liked to catch a nap when he could.
Family was a true part of Charles’ life. His devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren was unmatched and later bestowed this love onto his great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Ina Eftink; son: Anthony Eftink; grandchildren: Jessica (Kevin) Statler, Taylor (Lucas) Wilkinson, Michaela Martin and Megan Martin; great grandchildren: Emma, Miley, Lane, Rowen, Brynlee, Kaizer and Talylia; siblings: Rita (Douglas) Holshouser, Berniece Horman and Carol (Darrell) Welker. Charles had just been told a few weeks prior to his passing, that he has a great-great granddaughter on the way, she will be named Charley.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Karen Martin; and brothers: Robert, Joe and Mark Eftink.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Pendergrass Funeral Home. Parish Prayers at 4:30, visitation to follow from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Glennon, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Van De Ven, Brian Eftink, Jason Van De Ven, Donnie Kiefer, Ronnie Kiefer and Chad VanGennip.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Martin, Kevin Statler, Lucas Wilkinson, Bill Brandel, Tony VanGennip and Dewey Phillips.
