Clara Ann Brown, age 86, of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, at Saint Francis Hospital. She was born August 4, 1939, in Old Greenville, Missouri, to the late Melvin and Mandy (Abernathy) Mouser.
Clara married the love of her life, Howard Brown, and together they shared a beautiful life built on love, faith, and family. Back when Clara was just 17 years old, Howard first saw her walking into church and thought, “In walked an angel in heels.” That moment defined a love story that lasted a lifetime.
A devoted Christian woman, Clara’s faith guided her through every season of life. She was incredibly proud of her family, who were truly her greatest joy. Affectionately known as “Punky” growing up and later “Aunt Punk,” Clara was well-loved by all who knew her. She seemed to know everyone, and everyone knew her.
Clara will always be remembered as a loyal wife, a dedicated mother, and a woman who loved nothing more than gathering her family around the table. She was happiest in her kitchen, preparing her famous country cooking and making sure no one ever left hungry. Even in her final days, she was still thinking about what she might cook next. At the nursing home, she was lovingly known as “Little Miss Clara,” a title that suited her perfectly.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Brown; sons, Kevin Wayne (Toni) Brown and Bryan David (Shiela) Brown; grandchildren, Aaliyah Brown, Jaxon Brown, Chris (Whitney) Brown, Josh (Miriam) Brown, Kyle (Emily) Brown, Teri (Alejandro) Pulido, and Bobby (Jessie) Asher; and great-grandchildren, Colton, Wendy, Benjamin, Elody, Sadie, Hadley, Gloria, Alexander, Matthew, and Bellamy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mandy Mouser; her daughters, Joanna Marie Brown and Loreli Ann Brown-James; her brothers, Bill Mouser, Harold Mouser, and Raymond “Bud” Mouser; and her sisters, Elta Barrett, Virginia Wood, and Glenda Angel.
