Clark Thompson Obituary

Clark Melvin Thompson

March 17, 1953 – January 1, 2026

Clark Melvin Thompson, 72, of Perry County, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2026.

Clark was born at McChord Air Force Base in Pierce County, Washington, to Ralph and Alma Thompson. He grew up in many places but fondly called Thompson Holler in Perry County, Missouri, home. Clark attended schools in several locations, including Perryville High School, and while serving in the United States Army, he completed his high school education, graduating from Nuernberg American High School in Germany. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6) and was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

After his military service, Clark devoted his career to maintenance work, retiring as Head of Maintenance at a local nursing home. He was known for his generosity, willingness to help anyone in need, and his exceptional skill in fixing and building things.

Clark had a love for woodworking, outdoor work, and land management. He rebuilt his picturesque home to reflect his personality and spent countless hours in his workshop. He built ponds, paths, and rock walls for himself and anyone who needed them, leaving a tangible mark on his community.

Clark’s family was central to his life. He was married multiple times, but said the love of his life was Nancy M. Thompson, to whom he was married from 2000 until her passing in 2014. He is survived by his children Cody Thompson (Angela), Chris Thompson, Greg Parsons, Courtney Corse (Ben), Kimberly Boxdorfer (Greg), and Jennifer Nimsick (Joey), as well as other children John Thompson and Nicki Thompson. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, including Madison and Luke, and siblings Donna, David, Jim, Stanley, Danny, and Lonnie. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, both his parents, and sisters Mary Anne and Diana.

Clark Thompson was a man of quiet strength, boundless kindness, and generosity. He taught those around him to help without judgment, to value patience and respect, and to show up when it mattered most. He had a unique ability to make people feel safe, seen, and heard, and he left lasting lessons of love, integrity, and care for family, friends, and strangers alike. He will be remembered as one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

An interment with military honors will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sharing a story or memory of Clark and honoring his legacy of helping others.
