Deanna Rose Bowns, 85, of Piedmont, passed away on July 29, 2024, in Marble Hill. She was born on July 24, 1939, to the late Etho and Fern (Seachord) Mack, in Mount Harris, Colorado. She attended high school in Eagle, Nebraska.
Deanna and Gary Bowns were united in marriage on June 16, 1956. He was in the United States Air Force for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1974. During their marriage and her husband’s time in the service, they traveled from Lincoln, Nebraska to North Dakota, Okinawa, Japan, to Las Vegas, then on to Montana. She loved her time in Montana and seeing the mountains with her husband. Deanna and Gary loved to go sightseeing.
Mrs. Bowns was a homemaker and loved to crochet. She spent nearly 40 years crafting and made the most beautiful afghans for all her family members. She made sure that everyone in her family would have something beautiful to remember her by.
Survivors include her daughter: Penny Lukefahr of Piedmont; son: Tory Bowns of Kansas City, MO; brother: Bill Mack of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren: Leanna Boyer of Marble Hill, Dianna (David) Boyer of Grassy; great grandchildren: Dalton Boyer of Marble Hill, Kolten Boyer, Adrianna Boyer, and James Boyer of Grassy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant son: Gary Bowns Jr.; brothers: David and Steve Mack.
Deanna’s family would like to express a great appreciation for Betty, Susie, Donnie, April and Roberta, who went above and beyond over the years to care for Mrs. Bowns. Her grandson Dalton was very excited to know that his great grandmother was going to attend his wedding, to his beautiful bride to be, Shelbee, on October 19, her seat will be saved in memory.
The Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill is taking care of Mrs. Bowns final wishes. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
