Deputy Rylan Samuel Meek was born on December 18, 2000, in Farmington Missouri. Rylan passed away on October 22, 2024, in Bollinger County Missouri, at the age of 23 years old.
Rylan began his work as a first responder in 2016 when he was 16 years old as a volunteer firefighter for the city of Marquand. He went on to serve as a communications officer for the Bollinger County Sheriff Department, and a firefighter for the North Bollinger County Fire Protection District. Rylan Graduated in 2022 from the Southeast Missouri State University Law Enforcement Academy and served as a Deputy in Bollinger County until his final breath.
Rylan put his heart and soul into his work. He was a kind soul who would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. He loved his daughter and his family without measure. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Rylan gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ on August 31, 2008. To know Rylan was to love him. His smile and laugh were contagious to anyone around. He will be greatly missed.
Rylan is survived by one daughter: Brynlee Marie Meek (Angel Meek); parents: Derrick and Amy Meek; brother: Reagan Meek; sister: Olivia (Brendon) Weekley; niece: Layla Weekley; grandmother: Barbara Miller Ward; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless coworkers and friends.
Rylan was preceded in death by one child: Tatum Meek; sister: Taylor Meek; grandparents: Samuel Earl Miller and Raymond and Quelda Meek; great grandparents: A.D. and Opal Counts.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Meek, Reagan Meek, Brendon Weekley, Thomas Shaffer, Jeremiah Sear and Drew Cook.
Services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the First Baptist Family Life Center behind the First Baptist Church in Marble Hill. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm, with Rylan’s father, Derrick Meek officiating. Burial will follow at New Trace Creek Cemetery.
