Donald “Joe” Long, 70, of Marble Hill, passed away peacefully at his home, on October 7, 2024, surrounded by his family. Joe was born on November 21, 1953, in Advance, Missouri, to the late Woodrow “Deak” and Maggie (Russell) Long. He was a 1972 graduate of Woodland High School.
Joe and Karen Hughes were united in marriage on October 8, 1977, in Marble Hill. They celebrated 46 years of marriage, raise two boys, two grandchildren, and had fun living life together.
Joe worked most of his life as a logger. He enjoyed cutting timber, driving the skidder and working with his boys. He loved to work, and he loved to have fun. Joe loved to live life to the fullest. He enjoyed several years of camping and boating with his family. He also enjoyed fishing with the grandkids and helping his boys with all their many projects. Joe loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
Joe and Karen were members of the Outreach Worship Center in Marble Hill. He loved the Lord, and he loved his church family. It was not uncommon to hear Joe stand up and testify of his love for his Savior and his appreciation for the church.
Survivors include his wife: Karen Long; sons: Donnie (Jodi) Long, Ronnie Long; brothers: Billy (Donna) Long, Danny Long, Bruce (Tracey) Long; sisters: Jean (Floyd) Green, Judy Stacey; grandchildren: Weston and Carrie Long; and his dog: Cocoa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Jimmy, Gary, and Cecil Long, Lorna Long and Kay Brown.
Pallbearers will be Donnie and Ronnie Long, Weston Long, Josh Huffman, Steven Strong and Richard Cureton. Honorary Pallbearer is Danny Long.
Services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Jerry Stevens and Donnie Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Bollinger County Memorial Park.
