Edna Cook Obituary

Edna Marie Cook, age 91, of Marble Hill, Missouri, was born on November 10, 1933, in Mayfield Holler, Missouri, and gained her heavenly wings on October 15, 2025, at Stonebridge Senior Living.

Edna was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who spent her life surrounded by love and laughter. She married the love of her life, Davie “Bob” Cook, on August 2, 1952, and they shared 36 amazing years together before his passing on March 16, 1989. Edna lovingly cared for him through his illness, earning her the CB handle “Nurse Maid”, a name that suited her caring nature perfectly.

She lived in the same home for 65 years, raising her family and filling her house with warmth, kindness, and the love for her color, PINK, her absolute favorite. If it could be pink, it was! She enjoyed word searches, a good game of “Go Fish,” and treasured the simple joys of everyday life.

Edna faithfully attended New Bethel Church for the past four years whenever she was able. She had a special place in her heart for babies, so if there was a baby in church, Edna would find them. She could spot a little one from across the room and would light up with joy.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Doris (the late Oda “Bud”) Douglas; brother, Jim James; sisters, Norma Jean “Dean” (Bob) Proffer and Linda “Toad” (Richard) Bazzell; grandson, Tony (Sherry) Douglas; great-grandchildren, Jasper Douglas and Austin Brotherton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Davie “Bob” Cook; parents, Dave and Oma (Jones) James; brothers, Lyndall “Bud” James, Jack James, and Glen “Bay” James; and sisters, Louise Hahs, Lucille “Sit” Garland, Nellie “Tyne” Ruth Yount, and Nettie “Joke” Jacobs.

Edna worked for local shoe factories and later retired from Rubbermaid. She will be remembered for her love of family, her joyful personality, and her “all-pink-everything” spirit that brightened every room she entered.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Tony Douglas, Jasper Douglas, Austin Brotherton, Terry Drum, Paul James, Rodney Proffer, Wayne Yount, and Lonnie Yount.
