Elizabeth Joan McCaffrey

Elizabeth Joan McCaffrey, age 77, of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025. She was born on January 28, 1948, to the late Richard and Florence (Hall) McCaffrey in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Elizabeth was truly one of a kind. She loved to read, especially her favorite “smut” books, collect elephants, and never missed a chance to add a new tattoo (she had 17 and always wanted more). Bold and outspoken, she never hesitated to share her thoughts, right or wrong, and kept life interesting for those around her. She loved deeply, gave her family plenty of good-natured grief, and brought her whole heart into everything she did.

She practiced many different religions throughout her life and even drove a Christian semi-truck that served as a rolling church. Elizabeth also owned and operated Midnight Moon Kennels, where she proudly raised AKC registered black German Shepherds.

She is survived by her son, Paul Ford of Texas; daughter, Maile Burden of Marble Hill; grandchildren, Rani Burden and Dalton McCaffrey; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Burden, Mason Burden, and Aerolyn Wiesler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Grizz” Poli (married in 1980 in Rhode Island); her parents; her brother, Charles Voorhees; her sisters, Christine Sutton and Deva Levrets; and her grandson, Joshua Burden.

Arrangements are being handled by Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, MO. The family will be honoring her life with a private ceremony at a later date.
