Ellen Lavern Godwin, 81, of Marble Hill, passed away at her home on July 23, 2024. She was born on November 25, 1942, to the late Melbern and Jewell (Elledge) James, in St. Louis, Missouri. Ellen James and Bobby Godwin were married on November 14, 1959, in Lutesville. She was devoted to her faith, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She always saw the good in everyone and her faith was a rock to her family.
Mrs. Godwin is survived by her husband: Bobby Godwin; son: Andrew Godwin; daughter: Rebecca (Daniel) Lindley; brothers: Gregory and Timmie James; half-sister: Vicky; five grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
The Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill is assisting the family during this time. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 10th, 2024, at 10:30 am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Located at 1730 N Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau, MO.
