Fern Joan Rehm, 85, of Advance, MO, passed away on December 26, 2023, at the Aspire Nursing Facility. She was born on February 10, 1938, to the late Leo and Pearl (Dombach) Petzoldt, in Oak Ridge, MO. The youngest of three children, she was born and raised in Oak Ridge, where she graduated high school. Fern worked for the hosiery factory after high school for a number of years.
Fern Petzoldt and Carl Rehm were united in marriage on March 30, 1957, in Hernando, Mississippi. After their marriage, she and her husband moved to Advance, MO, where they began farming. They worked side by side, row cropping and raising livestock. After their two daughters, Cindy and Sheryl were born, the family worked together on the farm until their daughters were married. Fern and Carl worked together, towards their retirement until Carl’s passing in 2010.
She enjoyed gardening and canning. Fern was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She joined the Whitewater Chapter # 174, on September 10, 1968. Fern was a Worthy Matron, and faithful member in her years of the Eastern Star.
Fern is survived by two daughters: Cindy (Tom) Kalinski of Advance, MO, Sheryl Cummings of Bell City, MO; one sister: Dorothy (Don) Bailey of Alexander, AR; two grandsons: Garrett Cummings of White Bluff, TN, Dustin (Brooke) Kalinski of Advance, MO; and one great grandson: Blake Kalinski.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Carl; and one sister: Verna (Stanley) Jones.
The Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Missouri, is assisting the family during this time. Private Graveside Services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023. Fern will be laid to rest next to her husband Carl at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Advance, MO.
