Gary Dean Hardy, 71, of Sikeston, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at St. Louis University. He was born on March 31, 1954, to the late James Donald Hardy and Violet Margaret (Hinkle) Hardy, in Rockford, Ill.
Gary Hardy and Margaret Freeman were united in marriage on April 4, 1986. Celebrating just a few days short of 40 years of marriage, they spent a great amount of their time together. They loved to spend time at the lake and camping. You could often find them fishing together or simply “riding around”. Gary and Margaret loved to garden together. Gary had a deep love for fishing and spending time on the water.
Mr. Hardy was devoted in his careers. He worked for National Lock for over 20 years before the company relocated. Later, he went to work for Allen Wire in Sikeston and worked over 20 years full time, and several years part time.
He is survived by his wife: Margaret Hardy; son: Michael Vinson; sister: Gloria Hardy. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers: James “Jim” Hardy and Rodney Hardy.
The Pendergrass Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on April 18, 2026, at Miner Baptist Church in Miner, Missouri. Visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Service will begin at 2:00 pm.
