Harold Winfred James, age 82, of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on September 21, 2025. He was born on November 10, 1942, in Zalma, Missouri, to the late Lawrence and Iva (Burklow) James.
On June 15, 1979, Harold married the love of his life, Mary (Pullium) James, and together they built a life filled with faith, family, and love.
Harold is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons, Danny (Amy) James and Nathanael (Laura) James; his daughter, Tabbi (Kerry) Lincoln; sisters, Patricia Choate and Jodi Stanger; grandchildren, Breanna, Bryant, Shania, Kerri, Sophie, Macey, Rilee, Nathanael, Jesse, Grace, and Colton; and great-grandchildren, Stella, Ansley, and Benett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Candice “Candy” Ricketts; brothers, Bill, Don, Henry, and Charles; sisters, Mary Rendleman, Martha Becker, Shirley Brzowski, and Beverly McWilson; and one great-grandchild, Charlie.
Harold attended Marble Hill Bible Chapel, where he shared his devotion to the Lord with family and friends. Alongside his uncle, Warren, he traveled to prisons to spread the message of Christ and minister to those in need. Harold will be remembered as a man who loved life, loved his Lord, and instilled those same values in his family.
He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his much-loved grandbabies. For 14 years, Harold and Mary traveled the world participating in Civil War reenactments, a pastime he truly treasured. He was also an avid drag racer in his younger years, a proud St. Louis Cardinals fan, and never missed a chance to tune into Fox News. One of his favorite stories to share was how his family once lived in the old Marble Hill Library, now known as the Mayfield Event Center.
Services are being handled by Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, MO. The family will be holding a private ceremony at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions directly to the family.
