Hazel Hutson Obituary

Hazel Maxine Hutson, 101, of Marble Hill, passed away on November 22, 2024, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born on October 23, 1923, in Lutesville, to John William and Minnie (Proffer) Bollinger.  She was one of twelve children: seven boys and five girls. Hazel was a high school graduate of Lutesville High School. She was a member of the Lutesville Methodist Church and the Marble Hill Methodist Church.

Hazel and Lloyd Hutson were married on January 24, 1948, in Lutesville. He preceded her in death in 2006, after 58 years of marriage.

She worked local part time jobs while her children were growing up, as well as working in her yard. She could always be found outside pushing her lawn cart around picking up pinecones, sticks and tending her flowers. Later, she worked for Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau, on the assembly line.

She loved to bowl and belonged to the Lutesville Bowling Team. Hazel had such a passion for bowling, she even bowled on a traveling league.  Hazel loved to spend her summers in Florida with her sisters, Mary Hansen, Connie Mayfield and Belva Banta and her brother, Truman Bollinger.  She was fortunate enough to make the trip with several siblings and friends to the Holy Land, Hawaii, Colorado and Cancun, Mexico. In her later years she enjoyed her 2’oclock coffee break and Cardinals baseball.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children: Phillip (Barb) Hutson, Brad (Joyce) Hutson; grandchildren: Rebecca Hagerling, Sasha (Jason) Cureton, Jeremy (Bailey) Hutson, Tara Donley, Wade Hutson; great grandchildren: Emerson Williams, Elliot Williams, Kyson Cureton, Brynex Hutson, Gatlin Hutson, Levi Donley, Vincent Donley, Rylee (Harley) Cureton, Jason Cureton, Tyler Cureton, Jacob Cureton; great-great grandchild: Georgia Ezell; siblings: Mary Lou Hansen and John Richard Bollinger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son: Terry (Barb) Hagerling; grandson: Dallan Hutson; siblings: William, Charley, Truman, Connie, Belva, Carl, Luther “Ike”, Florence “Flossy”, Ida.
