Helen Mae (Ramsey) Sweeney, age 89, of Burfordville, MO, passed away and entered in the presence of the Lord on August 8, 2025.
Helen was born on October 8, 1935, in East St. Louis, to Earl and Catha (Prater) Ramsey. Helen and Charles Sweeney were united in marriage on February 12, 1955.
Helen was a lifelong learner who studied the Bible in several organizations, such as the Child Evangelism Fellowship and the Bible Memory Association. She continued her education at Brooks Bible Institute and Moody Bible Institute. Helen was a true scholar and earned her associate degree from Empire State College. After earning her paralegal certificate, Helen continued working her way up in clerical positions as a keyboard specialist. She was a proud member of Burfordville Baptist Church and served throughout her life as a Sunday School teacher, Bible study leader, and used her gift of playing the piano to lead the music.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Sweeney; children, Rhonda Hohmann and Gloria Krueger; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Catha (Prater) Ramsey, as well as her son, John Sweeney.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Burfordville Baptist Church from 10–11 a.m. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill, MO.
