Jacob "Spanky" Lee Long

Jacob “Spanky” Lee Long, age 24, of Marble Hill, MO, passed away on February 16, 2023 in Cape Girardeau, MO. Jacob was born on April 22, 1998, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO to Kim Bonee and was adopted by his grandparents, John and Sheila Long on April 29th 2011.

Jacob was a 2017 graduate from Woodland High School in Marble Hill, MO. He was a hydraulic repair technician for HoseMate in Marble Hill, MO. He liked to work on the farm, go mudding and shoot skeet. Jacob was always the life of the party. He made everyone laugh and always had that contagious smile on his face. He made sure everyone was smiling, regardless if they were down and sad. Jacob was the most selfless loving person and would give someone his last dollar, even if he was starving. He loved his siblings, his nieces and his nephews deeply. They meant the world to Jacob. He was a fast learner; he could pick up on something and have the task mastered in just a short while.

Jacob’s Grandma Murt was a very special lady to him. Every Saturday he would go grocery shopping with her, and on Sundays he was setting beside her in church. He loved her unconditionally and made sure she was never lonely.

He is survived by his mother: Kimberly Bonne; his grandparents: John and Sheila Long; his loving girlfriend: Madison Cover; two brothers: Jonathan Herrin, Kaleb (Kambri) Long; three sisters: Kelsie (Kyle) Cook, Kaylie Long, Jennifer (Josh) Detjen; his nieces: Paityn Huffman, Laci Detjen; his nephews: Malachi Huffman, Landon Detjen, Eli Huffman, Owen Cook, Hudson Cook; and an abundance of friends.

He was preceded in death by his Grandma Joyce Long; twin nephews: Lane and Cooper Cook; and one uncle: Tim Long.

Services will be held on Tuesday, February 21st, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Marble Hill, MO. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 PM. Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family and friends of Jacob, in celebrating his life.

In lieu of flowers, please make and send donations to the First Baptist Church of Marble Hill, MO. or Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel to help with final expenses.

Everyone is being asked that would like to attend the services for Spanky to come during the visitation in a timely manner. Seating will be limited for the memorial service.
