James “Jim” Franklin Gravil, 72, of Marble Hill, passed away on June 3, 2023, at his home. Jim was born on June 27, 1950 to the late Charles and Willa Mae (Reese) Gravil, in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Jim grew up on Black River near Poplar Bluff, MO. There, alongside his brothers, he learned how to hunt and fish. After attending Poplar Bluff High School, at a very young age of 17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was deployed to Vietnam and conducted operations as a force reconnaissance marine. In his length of service, he achieved the rank of Sgt, and received multiple awards and commendations.
Jim and his wife of 29 years, Dotty Wrinkle, established their family outside of Bloomfield, MO. He began his career as a Journeyman Lineman with the local CO-OP, where he made many friends and helped serve many people.
On June 20, 2000, James and Dawn Parker were united in marriage in Benton, Missouri. Jim and Dawn established their family outside of Marble Hill, MO.
His greatest love was his family and the outdoors. Throughout the years, he looked forward to joining his kids, grandkids and great grandkids, other family and friends at their established hunting camp.
Survivors include: his wife Dawn; three sons: James F. Gravil II, Cody Bertron, Michael Hunter; six daughters: Chrystal Nelson, Tammy Gravil-Jeris, Misty McDow, Andrea Gravil, Shelly Caselton, Melinda Moore; four brothers: Charles Gravil, Ferrel Gravil, Chris Gravil and Frank Gravil; twenty-four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, MO, is assisting the family during this time. Jim will be cremated as he wished, with a small ceremony to be held at home with his family.
