Janet Kay DeBrock, 70, of Leopold, passed away on February 4, 2025, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born on May 29, 1954, in Cahokia, Illinois, to the late John and Nellie (Wilfong) James. Janet was a 1972 graduate of Delta High School.
Janet James and Philip DeBrock were married on April 27, 1974, in Chaffee, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. This couple had one daughter, Heidi and celebrated 34 years of marriage together, prior to Philips passing in 2009.
She liked animals of all kinds, especially her dogs. She enjoyed being outdoors in her garden and flower beds. Spending time with family was of great importance to Janet and she loved watching her grandchildren play sports.
Survivors include her daughter: Heidi (Landon) Hahn; sisters: Linda James and Mary (Kenny Schlit) Schott; grandchildren: Elaina and Tucker Hahn.
Pallbearers will be Brad Vandeven, Mike Vandeven, Sean James, Brent James, Jesse Houseman and Scott Nanney.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the funeral home. Rosary service will begin at 5:00 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:30 am, at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Services will be led by Fr. Joseph Kelly. The Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
