Jerry "Jer" Eugene Thorne

Jerry “Jer” Eugene Thorne, 81, of Marble Hill, Mo., died on August 20, 2021, at Woodland Hills.

Born in Kennett, Mo., on February 27, 1940, he was the son of the late Orval Charles and Dorothy Louise Evans Thorne.

From the age of 18, Jer worked in the food service business.  He owned and operated restaurants in several states.  Since 2004 he served the Marble Hill community at Jer’s Restaurant, greeting and teasing his customers.

He attended Outreach Worship Center in Marble Hill.

Survivors include a son, Dennis (Rhonda) Thorne of Marble Hill; a sister, Louise Hamel of North Caroline; three grandchildren:  Taylor Thorne, Heather Thorne and Hailey Thorne; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Orval Thorne, and a grandson, Tanner Thorne.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until service time.  Services will begin at Noon with the Rev. Jerry Stevens officiating.  Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery at Essex, Mo.
