John Lee Swift, 77, of Marble Hill, passed away on July 9, 2024, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. John was born on October 30, 1946, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Glenn and Lucille (Bennett) Swift. He worked for Bond Trucking for 14 years as a dispatcher and moved on to truck driving for Delta Express. John ventured out to his happy place at Wappapello Lake and opened up Swifty’s Pizza.
Mr. Swift liked to go camping and spending time outdoors. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. John was known for his devotion to the news and the “soaps”.
Survivors include sons: John (Lori) Swift of Perryville; daughters: Amy (Avery) Ennis, Sandy (Tony) Wallman of Marble Hill; brother: James (Linda) Swift; sisters: Pam Glassow of Sandy, OR, Sherry Dye of Mill City, OR; seven grandchildren: Heather, Krysty, Tiffany, Cassie, Joshua, Abigail, and Allie; great grandchildren: Kailyn, Lawson, Kinslee, Berklee, Beckett, Aiden, Colton, Waylon, Bentley, Mary-Grace, Allie, Kallie, and Maddie.
John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jackie and Donnie Swift.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 241 County Road 226, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. The Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel is assisting the family during this time.
