Johnny Jay Hanners, age 77, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away on April 22nd, 2025. He was born on January 7th, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to John and Maude (Moore) Hanners, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at Saint Francis.
Johnny spent his life in the heart of Southeast Missouri, where he was known for his strong spirit, love for family, and unmistakable sense of humor. He made his home in Jackson, Missouri, with his son, Johnny Hanners Jr.
Johnny was a man of simple pleasure and deep passions. One of his favorite pastimes was participating in shooting matches – a hobby he enjoyed not just for the sport, but for the camaraderie it brought. He also had a legendary love for chicken, something his family will always remember with a smile.
Survivors include his two children: Johnny Hanners Jr and Brandon Hanners; siblings: Buck Hanners, Linda LeGrand, and Wendy Farrow; and his beloved granddaughter: Aylah May Ahern.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Johnny Hanners and Maude (Moore) Hanners, his daughter; Michelle Emerson, his brother; Dion Hanners, and his sister; Sue Miller.
Johnny leaves beind a legacy of laughter, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the small joys in life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
