Joy Butcher Obituary

Joy Marie Butcher, 56, of Archie, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 30, 2021, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.  Born on December 24, 1964, in Centralia, Illinois, she was the daughter of Donald and Sandra Sigwerth Butcher.

Joy was an amazing woman whose smile would light up the room.  No matter where she found herself, she was never too shy to make new friends.  She was an intelligent, generous and caring woman, and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter.  Her greatest achievement in life was raising two strong and independent chiildren, and through her daughter, a strong and wonderful grandson, who she spent every moment she could with, including all of his sports activities.

Even when riddled with various health issues, she never let her faith in God waiver.  Her pure devotion to the Heavenly Father gave her the strength she needed to overcome every obstacle life tried to put in her way.

She attended many churches throughout her life, including McGee Chapel of Glen Allen, Mo, Grace United Methodist Church of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Eagle Creek Church of Harrisonville, Mo.  She was always willing to go above and beyond for her church community, no matter what she faced at the time, taking part in Holiday activities every chance she could.

In 2006, she graduated from Metro Business College, Valedictorian of her class as a Medical Specialist.  She loved working in the medical field or taking care of other people, helping them where she could.

She is survived by a son, Derek Hulvey; a daughter, Carly Hulvey; grandson, Bryson Massa; two sisters: Paula Schnicker-Johnson and Amanda Reynolds; two brothers:  Robert Schnicker and Alan Schnicker; two nieces:  Ashley Lutz and Brooke Burris and one nephew, Ethan Reynolds.  She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Donald and Jean Butcher, her mother, Sandy Schnicker, and a sister, Beth Lutz.

Visitation and funeral services will be on Friday, September 3, 2021, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Mo.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until noon with services beginning at noon.  Rev. Kenny Massa, Sr. will officiate.  Burial will follow in McGee Chapel Cemetery near Glen Allen, Mo

A special thanks goes to the nurses and doctors of the Menorah Medical Center ICU for her excellent care.
