Leora Eugenia Rhodes of Marble Hill, passed away at the age of 88, on March 22, 2025, at the Stonebridge Senior Living Facility in Marble Hill. She was born on March 23, 1936, to the late Oscar and Viola (Edwards) Clendenny in Pleasant Hill, Illinois.
She and her late husband of 70 years worked together to build a farm, which featured a rotational grazing cattle operation and swine production. Leora was especially gifted at managing the sow farrowing and piglet nursey operation. At a Women in Agriculture’s conference, she was recognized as being one of the most knowledgeable swine producers in the county.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles; her parents; four brothers and a sister.
She is survived by her son: Charles Rhodes Jr.; daughter: Katie (Kevin) Godsey; brother: Ronnie (Jeannie) Clendenny; sisters: Phylllis VanStrein, Madalene Wills; grandpup: Taz; special kitty: Tommy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She loved springtime, baby animals and walks in the fields and woods on her farm. She was a free spirit who was not afraid to speak her mind. She will be missed.
Services will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm, with Bro. Randy Poole officiating. Burial will follow service at the Plainview Cemetery.
