Obituary

On February 15, 2023, Lillian Ruth Painton died of heart failure at her home in Painton, Missouri.  She was 81.

Ruth is survived by her two children, Ted and Jane Painton and four grandsons, Brandon (Amanda) & Brian Hill, Ryan (Caitlin) & Andrew Painton.  She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Wyatt & Lyla Hill of Jackson and six-week-old Kip Painton of Pensacola, Florida.  She often said “when they say grandchildren, they really do mean GRAND!”.  Having grandkids and especially great grandchildren, brought joy to her life.  She cherished each one.

Ruth was the youngest of eight siblings.  She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Doris (Cox) West, Hannibal, Missouri.  She was predeceased by her husband, James M. Painton, a dear daughter-in-law, Miriam Painton, and six siblings.

Ruth was a lifelong resident of Stoddard County, living most of her years in Painton, Missouri.  She was passionate about nature, wildlife, and her farm.  Ruth loved the land and it showed in the way she took care of it these many years.

As Ruth requested there will be no service or memorial.  Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel is in charge of her final choice which was cremation.  In lieu of flowers or plants a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the ALS Association is suggested.
