Linda Larue Mayfield

Linda Larue Mayfield, 71, of Marble Hill, passed away peacefully at her home on July 22, 2024. She was born on December 24, 1952, to the late Alva and Mary (Dickie) Hawkins, in Kennett, Missouri. Linda had a great love for her stepfather, Homer Hughes, who helped raise her.  Mrs. Mayfield had her hand in several jobs throughout her lifetime. She began working on cars, doing autobody work in the paint shop, then on to the family sawmill for a few years. Later she worked as a custodian at Woodland Schools.

Linda and Carl Mayfield were united in marriage on February 16, 1974, at the Florence Long home. They shared a great love for each other during their 37 years of marriage, and spent all the time they could together, prior to Carl’s passing on December 16, 2011.

She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and left a few of her own words for everyone:

“I love everybody, especially Carl. He was very special to me. Me and Carl done everything together. My kids were everything to me. The grandkids meant everything to me, and the great grandkids are precious. But the greatest love I have is my Lord, Jesus Christ.”

She is survived by her children: Timothy Mayfield, Kristy Hughes, Diana Liley; grandchildren; Joy, Carter and Grace Mayfield, Lindsey Moyers, Trent, Devin, Zachary and Skyler Liley; great grandchildren: Nevaeh, Avery, Colt, Keller and Scarlett; siblings: Michael Hawkins, Paul and Tony Hughes, Karen Long and Brenda Hughes.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather; and her husband, Carl.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Mayfield, Trent, Zachary and Skyler Liley, and Carter Mayfield.

Services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm, with Bro. Jerry Stevens officiating.  Burial will follow at the Bollinger County Memorial Park.
