Mac Wilkerson died surrounded by his family on January 4, 2022, at his home near Marble Hill, Missouri. Born on February 12, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, he was the son of the late Dealus and Edith Merle Mott Wilkerson.
He loved to fish, and then to eat his catch. Hunting squirrel and deer was another pastime. He also owned and enjoyed horses. He worked most of his life as a long-haul truck driver. The last company he drove for was W.W. Whitehead in Advance, Mo.
He and Linda Hodge were married on September 2, 1972. She survives. Linda and Mac were parents to five children: Eddie (Amanda) Wilkerson of Jackson, and James Wilkerson, Elizabeth (Michael) Turbeville and Onitra Wilkerson (Steven Jones), both of Marble Hill, Brenda Lasinski of Michigan, and a grandson they raised, Jacob Wilkerson. He is also survived by a sister, Louise Stauek of Florida, ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his two dogs, Abby and Coco.
A brother, Delbert Cartright, Jr., predeceased him.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, Mo.
