Mark Welker Obituary

Mark Wade Welker, 53, of Marble Hill, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, surrounded by all his loved ones. Mark was born on December 9, 1970, in Chaffee, MO, to Roger and Brenda (Mann) Welker. He was a 1989 graduate of Meadow Heights High School.

Mark was in the United States Army and Army National Guard for 21 years prior to his retirement in 2014.  During his years on enlistment, Mark received a number of medals and awards for his dedication and performance in the Army. Some of his achievements include: Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, NATO Afghanistan Service Medal, Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Humanitarian Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Overseas Training Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with W/M Device, Combat Action Badge. He was very proud to be apart of serving his country and it showed through his actions.

When Mark wasn’t in training or serving in country, he was found working as a mechanic. He worked for roughly 35 years as mechanic, and was said to be one of the best around. He ran his own shop and also worked at a few of the local dealerships over his career.  He enjoyed working in the garden and cooking BBQ, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren.

Mark and Heather Wolk were united in marriage on May 3, 2003, at the Plainview Church, near Marble Hill. Nearly 21 years of marriage, the amount of love Mark and Heather had for each other was easy to see. When Mark and Heather were married, he became a father figure to Richard and Kristin, and loved them just as his own.

He is survived by his father: Roger Welker; his wife: Heather Welker; one bonus son: Richard (Cassie) Wolk-Harris; one bonus daughter: Kristin (Harley) Logston; two sisters: Carla (Rich) Luttrull, Christy (Donny) Myers; six grandchildren: Erin, Amelya, Tylar, Eli, Korbyn, Chloe and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his mother; and one grandchild: Zoe Grace.
