Marlene Sue Smith, 83, of Marble Hill, Mo., passed away June 17, 2021, at her home. Born in St. Louis, Mo., on June 9, 1938, she was the daughter of Robert B and Emma Bertha Wittenbrock Brown.
Marlene worked for Brown Shoe Company in Clayton, Mo., doing clerical work. While at Brown she met Dale O Smith. They married in June 1980. In 1982 they moved to work with Brown Shoe in Benton, Mo.
For 25 years they resided in Cape Girardeau. Marlene also worked for 15 years with Walmart in Cape Girardeau, Mo. In 2007 they moved to Bollinger County. Dale preceded her in death on July 1, 2020.
She was a member of Point Pleasant Church near Marble Hill.
She is survived by three sons: Steve (Carol) Mangrum of Eureka, Mo., Daniel (Kristy) Mangrum of Rosebud, Mo., and Jeffrey (Donna) Mangrum of Jackson, Mo.; by a step-son, Steven O. (Kathleen) Smith and a step-daughter, Sheila Smith, both of Gainsville, Florida; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
A Memorial Services will be held at a date in the future. Hutchings Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
