Reba May Leadbetter of Jackson, formerly of Marble Hill, passed away Thursday, April 17th at St. Francis hospital at the age of 84.
Reba was born In Ojai, California on May 18, 1940 to Solon and Hazel Taber Buttry. Reba married Arvil Leadbetter on June 28, 1958 in Mississippi.
Reba retired from East Missouri Action Agency after 20 years of service and managing both Bollinger and Madison counties. She enjoyed helping people and giving people the tools to make a better life for themselves and their families. When her kids were young, Reba helped in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts along with finding activities for kids to do in the community such as bowling and starting a girls’ basketball league before that was even a thing at Woodland. She also made sure that her grandkids had a great time each summer when they visited by installing a pool and by helping grandpa fix homemade ice cream!
Reba enjoyed going to church and teaching young people about Jesus in Sunday School and Bible School. She was the Bible School coordinator for several years at Harmony Church. Reba and Arvil raised their 3 children at Hahn Chapel General Baptist. Later they attended Harmony Methodist Church and then First Baptist of Marble Hill. After it became too hard to physically go to church Reba and Arvil watched the online services of Connection Point Church. Sunday afternoons Reba enjoyed watching YouTube videos of the Gaithers and any other Southern Gospel group she could find.
