Rebecca Louvina Moore, age 82, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on November 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 15, 1943, in McGee, Missouri, Rebecca was the daughter of the late William and Dolly (McKnight) Gribler. She later married the love of her life, Edward Moore Sr., on August 18, 1961, in Jackson, Missouri. Together, they shared 64 wonderful years, building a strong, beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and love.
Anyone who knew Rebecca knew she was a spitfire, full of personality, humor, and a knack for “aggravating” in the most loving way. Edward learned early on that she enjoyed pushing buttons just to get a laugh, raising her fists playfully and telling him, “Come on, old man.” It is a moment he wishes he could hear just once more.
Rebecca retired from Saint Francis Hospital, where she worked as a cook after spending more than eight years with Tricon. She poured her heart into everything she did, but her deepest devotion was to her faith. She loved reading her Bible, writing down verses, and sharing her favorites with friends and loved ones in thoughtful, handwritten cards. She had a passion for teaching the Word, especially to children, and spent many years serving as a Sunday School teacher at Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Jackson.
Rebecca also enjoyed the simple joys of life, long country rides, especially when Edward took her down back roads or stopped for her favorite fried chicken in Advance. She loved a good yard sale, always searching for a bargain. Most of all, she adored her family, and she absolutely loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with her whole heart, taking pride in each one of them and finding endless joy in watching them grow. Her homemade meals were legendary, with her famous fried taters holding a special place in everyone’s hearts. Edward joked that no trip to the store was complete unless he brought home at least 20 pounds of potatoes. Every day, without fail, she enjoyed her taters, toast, and coffee and that coffee pot stayed on from morning till night, usually leaving at least one cup for Edward. She will be deeply missed, but the memories she created, her humor, her cooking, her faith, her cards filled with scripture, will continue to bless the many lives she touched.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Edward Moore Sr.; her children, Edward “Eddie” (Regina) Moore Jr., Tim (Robin) Moore, Gordon (Melissa) Moore, and Cindy Stevens; her sister-in-law’s, Genevieve Gribler and Carol Gribler; her brother-in-law’s, Raymond (Remynda) Moore and Kenny Tally; as well as a large and loving family of grandchildren: James (Jessica), Tish, Dustin (Donnellya), Tyler (Michelle), Cole, Tori (Jacob), Abigail (Ben), Rachel, Lauren, Michael (Shey), Jacob, Shane, Hannah (Cody), Kody (Faith), and Tori; great-grandchildren: Zach, Jordan, Jayden, Taylor, Emma, Mytthias, Thalia, Shiloh, Selah, Oaklynn, Harrison, Lincoln, Cora, Skyler, Saylor, Scarlett, Sterling, Everett, Sydney, Parker, Iris, Tymber, Kami, Mhyia, Kase, Miles, Analia, Tatum, Katrina, and Philip III; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her father- and mother-in-law, Loy and Laureen Moore; her brothers, Bob Gribler, Norman Gribler, and an infant brother; two infant sisters; her son-in-law, Steve Stevens; and her sister-in-law, Judy Tally.
