Reuben Bernard Reed, 83, of Glen Allen, Missouri, died at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, on October 29, 2021. Born in McDougal, Arkansas on April 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Pansey L. Garver Reed. He married Eula Dean Leroux. She survives.
He served in the Arkansas National Guard for 12 years, from 1952 until 1964. For over 50 years he worked as a millwright with Local 1102 and SEMO Carpenter’s Union. His work as a millwright took him and his family to many states and countries, including Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, Nevada, New Mexico, Ireland and Papua New Guinea. He loved to watch classic westerns, wildlife and his cows. He was a member of the Marble Hill Church of Christ.
Besides his wife he is survived by three sons: Rory (Jeanne) Reed of Muncy, Pennsylvania, Therrel Reed of Sherman, Texas, and Brent (Janet) Reed of GlenAllen, Missouri; two brothers, two sisters; four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Three brothers and a great grandchild preceded him in death.
Graveside services were held on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Glen Allen Cemetery. Hutchings Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
