Richard Eugene LaFont, born August 3rd,1948, was a devoted son, brother, and family man, whose life was marked by adventure, love and deep appreciation for antiques and collectibles. Born and raised in southeast missouri , Richard was baptized at and attended Saint Eustachius Catholic Church grade school in Portageville, Missouri and then went on and graduated from Portageville High School, class of 1966. He furthered his education at the University of Tennessee at Martin. As a veteran of the United States Army, honorably discharged, Richard brought dedication to many aspects of his life. He spent his life traveling across the United States scouring flea markets, antique shops, and estate sales in search of timeless pieces that told a story. Richard often sought comfort and guidance from his brother, valuing his insight and counsel, particularly when it came to important life decisions such as the perfect place to call home.
Richard was the loving son of Maureen and Samuel LaFont. A memorial will be held at the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, where a committal service will be held in the chapel on the grounds, where he will be interred in the columbarium memorial. The service will include with a three-volley salute in honor of his military service.
He is survived by his brother Dale Patick LaFont, sister-in-law, Terry Brewer-LaFont. Nephew, Lance LaFont and his wife Tara LaFont and their daughters, Brie and Wesley-Claire LaFont, Oxford, Mississippi. Also, Jared Brewer and his wife Ashley Brewer of Sikeston, Missouri.

Richard fought a good fight and was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ on May 23rd, 2025 and is now healed in his heavenly home.
Family services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery.
