Roger F. Burr – son of Carlton W. Burr, Sr. and Bertha E. (Becker) Burr was born on June 14,1945 and died on February 5, 2026. He grew up in Hollis, NYC. graduating from Public School 35 and Jamaica High School. He worked for many years as a commercial insurance adjuster living in Wyoming, Utah and California before moving upon retirement to Marble Hill.
Roger made many wonderful friends here serving as a City Council Alderman, County Chamber of Commerce Treasurer and as Secretary of the Bolinger County Recycling Center which he was so involved in starting and supporting. He enjoyed working part time for Jim Davis at Central Insurance Co. and made many friends there. Special thanks to those who came to his apartment day after day, making his meals, keeping him company and looking after him until he entered StoneBridge Senior Living where he received excellent care. Crown Hospice of Cape Girardeau provided superb care throughout his last weeks. Special appreciation is due a special friend, Paula Bridges, for her tireless, generous and faithful service in his behalf. Roger was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Leopold.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Carlton W. Burr, Jr. He is survived by two brothers, Douglas Burr (wife, Daphne) of Edmond, Oklahoma and Russell Burr (wife, Jane) of Roswell, Georgia and an extended family. Thanks to Eric at Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel for his handling of all arrangements. A graveside committal service will be held soon at the Genola Rural Cemetery, Northport, NY.
