Russell Dean Nielsen, 61, of Marble Hill, Mo., died unexpectedly at his home on Sept. 28, 2021.
Born in Belmond, Iowa, on December 1, 1959, he was the son of Leo and Betty Clayton Nielsen.
He and Cynthia Lee Wells were married in Marble Hill on February 3, 1984. She survives.
Russell was employed by Ziegler Plumbing and Heating. He enjoyed lawn mower racing and small engine repair. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy, and his mother, Betty Nielsen; three sons: Jason (Cora) Nielsen, Codi (April) Nielsen, and Dylan Nielsen, all of Marble Hill; a brother, Brad Nielsen, of Illinois; four sisters: Brenda Nielsen of Marble Hill, Kelly Omodt of California, Mary Mungle and Wendy Gill, both of Sedgewickville, Mo; and 13 grandchildren: Kayli Shipley, Evan, Wyatt, Braxton, Jase, Waylon, Lily, Naveah, and Liam Nielsen, and Sidney, Lindsey, Wesley and J.J. Green.. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation and funeral services will be on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Rocky Strand officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Sedgewickville Lutheran Cemetery.
