Sandra Kay (Porter) Chaney finished life’s race on August 3, 2025, and entered her eternal home prepared by her Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on September 18, 1947, in Humboldt, TN. She was the daughter of James “Buck” and Ophelia Porter.
Sandra grew up in Humboldt, TN. As an adult, her occupation was in the Supermarket and distribution industry, and she traveled extensively until 1991 when she began to pursue a career in nursing. She enrolled in South Plains College of Nursing in Leveland, Texas at the age of 45 and obtained an RN nursing degree.
She and her husband Dan made Marble Hill their home in 1995, and she began working as a home health nurse for Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown. Sandy loved her clients and faithfully attended to their medical needs for several years before transitioning in her career to work for the Bollinger County Health Center.
Sandy enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and travel. Some of her favorite vacations were in Banff National Park in Canada, Yellowstone, several national parks in Utah, the Grand Canyon, and her most cherished trip, a 10-day tour of Israel in 2008.
She was an active member of her church, Lakeside Worship Center and a faithful Christian who loved the Lord and her church family. She enjoyed reading her Bible with Dan nearly every evening. As a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Sandy Chaney was the kindest, most gentle soul, whose love and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Despite facing years of illness, she never once complained, meeting each day with grace, strength, and a quiet courage. Her greatest joy in life was God, her family, and she loved her grandchildren endlessly. Her smile was a constant radiating sweetness, comfort and love in every moment.
To know her was to be blessed by her kindness, patience, and unwavering care. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever live in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Chaney, and her children: Jim Crocker of Springfield, MO, Terry Crocker (Amy) of Cape Girardeau, Andrea Crocker Hart (Greg) of Johns Island, SC and stepsons, Monte Chaney (Amy) of Frisco, TX and Bric Chaney (Holly) of Little Elm, TX. She was a wonderful grandmother to 8 grandchildren – Kay, Kristian, Brandon, Katie, Jayden, Mason, Taylor, and Matthew and to 2 great grandchildren – Jeremiah and Eliana.
The family wishes to thank Lakeside Worship Center, Kristen Seyer, FNP- Palliative Care, Amedisys Home Health and Journey Hospice Care for their dedicated and loving end-of-life care.
