Shirley Maxine (Bailey) Lee

Shirley Maxine Lee, 78, of Marble Hill, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at the Stonebridge Nursing Facility. She was born to the late James and Ruby (Robinson) Bailey, in Caruthersville, MO, on July 15, 1945.

Shirley worked at the hat factory for 34 years as a floor lady and TG for 11 years. She was highly thought of by all her co-workers and loved by all her friends during her working career. She also sold Mary Kay products.

On November 23, 1963, Shirley and Clayton Lee were married in Zalma, MO. After just meeting in August, the two knew they couldn’t stand to be apart, and decided to become man and wife. Shirley and Clayton had a “whirl-wind” love for one another, and it was easy to see how much they loved one another. This couple had two boys: Clayton Leon and Christopher. Clayton preceded her in death in 2018, after 54 years of marriage.

She loved watching her grandson and great grandson play basketball. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and she loved watching the red birds outside on the family farm at Grassy.

Survivors include one son: Clayton “Bud” (Laura) Lee of Grassy; two grandchildren: Caleb (Brooke Kaycee) Lee and Dora Marie Jones; three great grandchildren: Lane Christopher Lee, Nathaniel Carlisle, and Khole James. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son: Christopher Lee; six brothers: Bob, Wayne, and Paul Hamilton, and Jack, Bob, and Bill Bailey; two sisters: Jacqueline Hamilton Waddell and Betty Bailey.

Services will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, MO. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill, MO.
