Wallace "Chuck" Richard Stewart

Wallace Richard Stewart, 78, of Marble Hill, MO, passed away May 24, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.  He was born on January 12 1945 in St Louis County to the late Leslie and Ellen (Prewiett) Stewart.

Wallace joined the United States Navy on January 26, 1962. He was a Vietnam Veteran, earning his rank of E-3, prior to his honorable discharge. He was a proud veteran and was proud to serve his country.

Mr. Stewart was a welder for the entirety of his life. He owned and operated Stewart’s Welding in Sedgewickville, MO, for 36 years. He loved to hunt, fish and raise cane. He always loved to have a good time, and was always picking at everyone around him. Not only was Wallace a welder and hard worker, he was an outstanding baker. He loved to make cookies for everyone. He was also very good at embroidering quilt tops.

Wallace and Dorothy Yount were united in marriage on December 17, 1983, at the Post Oak Methodist Church. She survives.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy; three sons: James (Sandy) Stewart of Patton, MO, Charles Mattingly of St. Louis, MO, Jason (Amanda) Yount of Marble Hill, MO; seven daughters: Nola Borage of St. Louis, MO, Dawn Stewart of Farmington, MO, Tracey Smith of Cedar Hill, MO, Jennifer Yount of Marble Hill, MO, Jessica (Frank) Nichol of Scott City, MO, Demettria Robbins of Marble Hill, MO, Ellen Yount of Fruitland, MO; one brother: Leslie Ames Stewart of Knobnoster, MO; and seventeen grandchildren.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandchildren: Kayden and Brantley Luttrull.

Pallbearers will be: Jason Yount, Chad DeSpain, Darrell Harper, Zachary Yount, Ronald Macklin and Cecil Harper III “BJ.” Honorary pallbearers are James Stewart, Jim Evans, Amanda Yount, Nicole Harper, Margie Evans and Emmah Fulton.

Services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at the Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, MO. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM with the Rev.’s Jesse Watts and Phillip Mize officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Union Cemetery with full military honors.
