William Michael Grindstaff

William Michael Grindstaff gained his wings after a long-fought battle on January 2, 2026. He was born on October 31, 1955, in Fredericktown, Missouri, to the late William Hadley and Mary (Pulliam) Grindstaff.  Michael married Billie McGee on July 17, 1993, at New Salem Baptist Church in Marble Hill. After a trip to the US Virgin Islands, they returned home and began to grow their family.

Those who knew Mike would all tell you the same, He loved the Lord with all his heart. Michael was an ordained minister, anytime he had an opportunity to share the gospel, he would do so. During Mike’s illness he lived at Annie’s House, a boarding home in Marble Hill. While there, he led Bible studies and told the residents about Jesus, leading many to the Lord. They all became family, and Michael was adopted as dad, pawpaw and grandpa. The staff and residents loved Mike.  He was a joy to be around.

He loved to share his memories of his mission trip to Belize, with Patton Fellowship and his adopted family Carlos and Elwanda McMinn, their family and several others. Mike had a brief stay at Hubble Creek, formerly known as the Monticello House in Jackson, before being hospitalized. Michael has 6 children whom he loved fiercely. He loved watching them grow into fine young men and women. He became a Scout leader with his wife as their oldest son, Andrew, was in Boy Scouts. He was very proud of Andrew and his many accomplishments.  Watching the five younger children as they went from one sport to another, excited Mike.  

He is survived by his wife: Billie Grindstaff; sons: Andrew (Janet) McGee of Caldwell, Idaho, Benjamin Grindstaff and Evan Grindstaff both of Cape Girardeau, Thomas Grindstaff of Jackson, MO; daughters: Mara Grindstaff of Caldwell, Idaho and Macie Grindstaff of Marble Hill; grandchildren: Sylvia, Nicholas, Charlotte, Andrea, James and Madeline of Caldwell, Idaho and Shelby of Magnolia, TX. He was preceded by his parents and two grandchildren: Nolan and Nixon.

If Michael could say one thing to any of you reading this, it would be: How is your walk with Jesus? Do you know him as your Lord and Savior? Let me tell you about MY JESUS! If you don’t know him, you are missing out. Share the love of Jesus with everyone and KNOW where you will spend eternity. Be Saved Today!!

The Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel is assisting the family during this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please make donations to the Marble Hill Food Pantry in honor of Mike.
